ADC Features New Fiber Optic Products at ECOC 2004
Monday September 6, 4:00 am ET
Showcases Complete Portfolio of Solutions for Central Exchange, Data Center, Customer Premises and FTTP Applications
BERLIN & STOCKHOLM, Sweden--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 6, 2004--ADC (Nasdaq:ADCT;
www.adc.com) today announced the worldwide launch of new fiber optic products at this year's ECOC exhibition, 6-8 September, in Stockholm, Sweden. The combined ADC and KRONE booth, number 447, will also be the showcase for the company's complete portfolio of solutions for central exchange, data center, customer premises, and fiber-to-the-premise (FTTP) applications.
"Communications service providers and corporations around the world have relied on ADC and KRONE fiber connectivity and cabling solutions to improve network performance and enhance their operations," said Axel Kahsnitz, regional director, EMEA, for ADC. "At this year's ECOC exhibition, we demonstrate how our combined comprehensive product portfolio helps customers deliver new fiber-based services while minimizing deployment costs; improve time-to-market; and simultaneously ensure flexibility and scalability in evolving networks to meet tomorrow's requirements."
ECOC attendees will see, for the first time, how network operators can now interconnect different Small Form Factor (SFF) connector types simply and efficiently. Demonstrations of the company's new innovations include:
SFF Universal Adapter: part of the KRONE FiberPLUS® family, this single SFF adapter enables network operators to interconnect different SFF connector types - from LC, MU and LX.5® (simplex) to LC and LX.5 (duplex) connectors - simply and efficiently. Both simplex and duplex Universal Adapters are available for Singlemode (SM) and Multimode (MM) connectors. Laser protection shutters are integrated at both sides of the Universal Adapter. The compact design allows the Universal Adapters to be installed in close proximity to one another using the patented Front Clip mechanism. This allows the adapter to be removed easily from the front of the holder, thus simplifying access to the rear connector for cleaning or testing operations.
KRONE SFF Universal Receptacle: this is the interface to the SFF Universal Adapter which permits interconnection between the LC, MU and LX.5 simplex and duplex connector types. By using the SFF Universal Receptacle, vendors and systems integrators can supply network operators with systems where pre-selection of connector type is no longer required. This gives network operators the flexibility to provide customers worldwide with instant connectivity regardless of connector type.
SC Through-Adapter: part of the KRONE FiberPLUS® family, this device is easy to install, reliable and flexible and is the first SC through-adapter with a laser shutter in standard dimensions. The metal component of the SC-laser shutter enables reliable protection against the laser beam. Available in simplex and duplex variants, the compact design allows the through-adapters to be installed directly next to each other utilizing the patented Front Clip mechanism. The SC through-adapter is designed for both SM and MM.
ADC will also demonstrate its FTTP capability at ECOC with a range of fiber distribution cabinets, dome-ended inline closures, hybrid outlets, wall mount fiber distribution boxes, fiber optic cables, and components.
The company offers a wide range of passive FTTP products for the global marketplace and continues to invest in developing solutions for customers worldwide. The ADC OmniReach(TM) portfolio of FTTP infrastructure solutions offers service providers flexibility in managing their FTTP equipment, including the expensive central office-based electronics, used to transmit the signals to individual homes.
Service providers can leverage their investment and generate revenue through the delivery of triple play services with OmniReach Fiber Distribution Terminals, Fiber Access Terminals, Passive Optical Splitter Modules, and Wavelength Division Multiplexer Modules. For more information about ADC's OmniReach products, including interactive network diagrams and a case study highlighting a recent FTTP deployment, please visit:

Also displayed will be a comprehensive range of ADC and KRONE fiber connectivity and cabling products for central exchange, data center and customer premises applications. Interactive presentations and demonstrations will cover the KRONE ODS 1000 and the ADC OMX(TM) 600 fiber distribution frames, the fiber cable raceway system, value-added modules, the connector identification system, power distribution products, an optical extension platform and rack mount fiber panels.
ADC's portfolio of fiber connectivity and cabling products are designed to meet the requirements of virtually every network application, ensuring physical protection and high-performance termination of optical cables throughout the network. The products promote a well-organized, flexible network and permit proactive network management through adequate bend radius protection, intuitive cable routing schemes and ample slack storage. Furthermore, they are proven to reduce operational costs, service outages and cable congestion.
