BOSTON (CBS.MW) - Amgen (AMGN) said late Thursday that its fourth-quarter net profit rose to $547 million, or 41 cents per share, compared with $456 million, or 34 cents per share, in the 2002 fourth quarter. Excluding special items, the No. 1 biotechnology firm said it earned $615 million, or 46 cents per share. Analysts on average had expected profit of 48 cents per share, according to Reuters Research. Shares dropped $1.63 to $61.18

AMGN Gets Favorable Court Ruling In Patent Litigation Against Transkaryotic Therapies & Aventis Pharma - Update [AMGN]
10/15/2004 5:42:34 PM Friday after the bell, Amgen Inc. (AMGN), a biotechnology company, announced that Judge William Young of the US District Court of Massachusetts in Boston ruled in its favor in the patent litigation suit against Transkaryotic Therapies Inc (TKTX) and Aventis Pharmaceuticals Inc.
The company noted that the Court found its patent claims valid and infringed by TKT and Aventis.
According to Amgen, the decision addressed the issues remanded to the District Court from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and focused on the validity of two product patents on erythropoietin and the validity and infringement of two patents with claims to production of erythropoietin.
The company added that the District Court found all the patents valid and the process patents infringed. The result of this decision, coupled with earlier decisions, is that four Amgen patents on erythropoietin have been held valid, enforceable, and infringed.
Amgen also said that the ruling confirms strength of its patent rights on erythropoietin and protects its breakthrough inventions that have helped over a million people worldwide. Amgen will continue to vigorously enforce its intellectual property.
AMGN closed Friday’s regular trading at $55.22, up $1.22 on a volume of 8.9 million shares. TKTX closed at $16.79 down 48 cents.

Analysts polled by First Call/Thomson Financial expected the company to report earnings of $0.68 per share on revenues of $2.87 billion for the quarter.

ok, anke oggi ha toccato la TL di lungo ed e' risalita formando una bi star doji pattern questo ke non esiste
vedremo se domani produrra' una nuova doji con apertura in leggero gap up... allora si ke avremmo una bellissima "tri star doji" ke, normalmente, decreta la fine di un trend con un lento cambiamento di sentiment.
quindi attendo anke il close di domani prima di prendere una decisione.

Il fatto e' ke su AMGN ora le "crozze" sono tre e, ironia della sorte, non hanno formato il pattern della "tri star doji" classico...
Tutte le shadows delle doji toccano la TL storica...
e' evidente il cambio di sentiment ma ancora non abbiamo una vera e palese dimostrazione ke sia bullish... diciamo solo ke e' evidente ke i bears stanno perdendo forza di cacciarla ancora piu' giu'.
Qui stiamo valutando la situazione daily mentre i miei personali ingressi da cassetto si avvalgono normalmente di formazioni daily/weekly quindi, non avendo un kiaro segnale di inversione, preferisco attendere ancora... cosi' vedremo anke l'aspetto della candela weekly...
Fra i miei appunti manca questo pattern di 3 doji, se qualcuno lo conoscesse, gli sarei veramente grato se lo postasse con la spiegazione.
