Successful audit confirms eMagin meets stringent requirement for worldwide aerospace quality management standard

HOPEWELL JUNCTION, N.Y., Oct. 27, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- eMagin Corporation (NYSE American: EMAN), a leader in the development, design, and manufacture of high-resolution OLED microdisplays for AR/VR and other near-eye imaging products, today announced the completion of an audit by Eagle Certification Group, a certification body accredited by the ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board (ANAB), to achieve AS9100 Rev D and ISO 9001:2015 certification for eMagin’s OLED design/development/production facility in Hopewell Junction, NY and design/development facility in Santa Clara, CA.

"The AS9100 certification is the standard by which all aerospace suppliers are measured and reflects the continuous improvement efforts and commitments made by our employees to deliver the highest quality products to our customers,” said Dr. Amal Ghosh, eMagin’s chief operating officer. “This certification highlights eMagin's focus on supporting the stringent requirements of the aerospace, aviation and defense industries, and builds upon our industry-leading expertise in OLED microdisplay manufacturing. These certifications strengthen eMagin’s competitive position and standardize our quality, reliability and safety processes across our aerospace and defense programs. Furthermore, we believe this certification, combined with improvements to our capital equipment and manufacturing processes, continue to make eMagin the supplier of choice for OLED microdisplays.”

AS9100 is an internationally recognized quality management system standard specific to the aerospace, aviation, and defense industries. The standard is widely supported and adhered to by major aerospace OEMs and is increasingly required by vendors within the supply chain.

AS9100 is managed by the International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG) and is based on the ISO 9001:2015 global quality management standard and meets the quality requirements of the U.S. Department of Defense, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, and the Federal Aviation Administration.

siamo ancora tutti in barca ?

As Mark Zuckerberg struggles to get his metaverse off the ground, China is pushing the country to develop a vast VR industry capable of churning out millions of headsets per year.

Five government ministries in China have published(Opens in a new window) a five-year plan that identifies VR, including augmented reality, as a next-generation industry the country needs to cultivate. The benefits include promoting new forms of cultural and economic consumption while strengthening the country’s digital presence.

The plan calls on China to develop a VR industry capable of producing over 25 million VR devices by 2026, according(Opens in a new window) to Reuters, which first reported the news.

It’s unclear if the ministries are hoping to hit the 25 million shipments on an annual or cumulative basis. But according to research firm IDC, China only shipped about a half a million VR and AR headsets during the first half of this year. Meanwhile, the global market is projected(Opens in a new window) to ship close to 11 million units in 2022.

The same plan from the Chinese government aims to grow the country’s VR industry to a scale of more than 350 billion yuan ($48 billion) by 2026. By then, China will also have cultivated 100 companies to support the VR and AR industry.

“By 2026, breakthroughs will be made in the key technologies of 3D, virtual-real integration and immersive audio-visual technology,” the document adds, noting that China plans on applying the technologies to a variety of industries including education, tourism, health and media, among others.

To pull this plan off, the Chinese ministries are focusing on developing technologies, such as improved LCD, OLED and MicroLED displays for the headsets while developing eye- and facial- tracking systems to translate human expressions into the virtual world.

China announced the plan as the country has also been trying to develop its own cutting-edge semiconductor industry. However, it's facing resistance from the US, which has been blocking companies from shipping the most advanced chip technologies to Chinese semiconductor makers. The Biden administration is concerned the country’s tech ambitions could help it develop supercomputers and AI capable of helping the Chinese military and its surveillance efforts.

MELBOURNE, Fla. — L3Harris Technologies (NYSE:LHX) announced today delivering its 10,000th Enhanced Night Vision Goggle-Binocular to the U.S. Army and receiving a new production order for additional ENVG-Bs.

The recent delivery of nearly 600 ENVG-Bs to the Army’s Security Force Assistance Brigade closed out the Army’s initial 10,000 unit order, marking a major milestone in the company’s four-year-old ENVG-B program. The Security Force Assistance Brigade will be the ninth Army brigade to field L3Harris’ night vision system.

“In 2018, the U.S. Army selected L3Harris to develop and deliver a next-generation night vision goggle capability that would help protect and improve soldiers’ situational awareness and mobility,” said Lynn Bollengier, President, Integrated Vision Solutions, L3Harris. “Less than four years later, we have delivered 10,000 ENVG-Bs, a number that continues to climb as customer demand builds for this game-changing technology that enables soldiers to command the night.”

The combat-proven ENVG-B gives soldiers the ability to identify, assess, and engage a target with greater accuracy and speed than any other night vision system currently in the field. Using advanced fusion technology and augmented reality capabilities, the ENVG-B provides soldiers critical situational awareness during low-light and night operations keeping them safe and mission effective.

A key component in a complete system that interfaces with the Army’s Family of Weapon Sights - Individual, ENVG-B offers seamless interoperability and data sharing from goggle to sight. This combination of advanced sensing and situational awareness provides the warfighter with a tactical advantage when conducting low-light and night missions.

The ENVG-B provides additional real-time battlespace intelligence for close-combat soldiers when connected with Falcon® IV tactical radios via the Intra-Soldier wireless network, bringing intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance video directly to the goggle provides to speed target identification and provide an immersive battlespace perspective.

Apple mixed reality headset to enter mass production in March 2023

Michail 09 November 2022Apple VR Rumors
Apple’s mixed reality (XR) headset will enter mass production by March 2023 according to the latest DigiTimes report. Chinese contract manufacturer Pegatron is expected to be the main supplier for the device. Apple is believed to launch its XR headset at an event in April 2023 through initial supply will be very limited.

The report specifies that the initial supply for the Apple XR headset in the first year will be somewhere in the 700,000 to 800,000 units which is lower than previous estimates of 2.5 million units. The lower supply values will not make the XR headset that profitable for suppliers though Pegatron and others will fulfill these orders so that they can be better positioned for future AR/VR products down the line.

Apple mixed reality headset will enter mass production in March 2023
Apple already trademarked the Reality One name which is believed to be related to its MX headset project. Previous reports suggested a January 2023 announcement followed by pre-orders in Q2 and open sales around June’s WWDC.
