RMBS - Rambus Inc. (NASDAQ:RMBS)

Big Picture: Rambus has stated on numerous occasions that their growing patent portfolio covers much of the $300 Billion semiconductor market and are owed royalties from 100’s of sources.

Bottom Line: By the time the average Joe wakes up to Rambus’ potential, the stock will be in triple digits.

Analyst: Rambus May See $936M Upside

Rambus Shares Soar After Analyst Estimates Company Could See $936
Million From Settlements

NEW YORK (AP) -- Shares of Rambus Inc. rocketed in morning trading on
Wednesday after a financial analyst predicted there could be $936
million in revenue upside for the company, most likely from various
lawsuit settlements.

The Los Altos, Calif.-based chip interface developer, which is
involved in a number of patent infringement and price-fixing lawsuits
against Hynix Semiconductor Inc., Micron Technology Inc. and Samsung
Semiconductor Inc., had a small legal victory last week when a judge
in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California
threw out Hynix's request to dismiss the case on grounds that Rambus
had allegedly destroyed evidence.

On Wednesday WR Hambrecht analyst Daniel Amir upgraded the stock
to "Buy" from "Hold" with a $38 price target, and said that although
this could be a "make or break year" for Rambus, he estimates there
could be "$936 million upside to the Rambus story."

"We believe there are two major legal developments in 2006 that could
go in Rambus' direction. The first being the Hynix trial which is to
start in March 2006 and the second is the potential of a trial in the
second half of 2006 for the price fixing case. Positive rulings in
these trials could provide significant upside potential to the Rambus
story which could lead to financial settlements by the major DRAM
(dynamic random access memory) players," Amir wrote in a research
note.

Rambus shares, which have traded between $10.22 and $28.81 in the
past year, soared $5.39, or 19 percent, to a new 52-week high of
$33.70 in morning trading on the Nasdaq.

Amir lifted his 2006 estimates to 29 cents per share in profit on
$180 million in revenue, up from previous estimates of 25 cents per
share on $166 million in revenue. The analyst also initiated 2007
guidance for earnings of 47 cents per share on revenue of $201
million.
