Once again, Germany accounted for the largest share of the 123 investment projects. A total of 55 companies investing in Austria were from Germany, up from 47 German firms in 2004. Italy was second with 10 firms (2004: 8), followed by the USA with 9 companies (2004: 4), and Japan with 7 (2004: 5). Great Britain accounted for 6 investment projects (2004: 5), Switzerland for 5 (2004: 6), with four Dutch and four Turkish firms investing in Austria in 2004. Never before has ABA provided professional support services to so many German, Japan and Turkish investment projects. All in all, companies from 25 different countries invested in Austria in 2005.
The 123 projects in 2005 accounted for 217.9 million Euro in investments, down from 282.6 million Euro in 2004. In contrast, the number of new jobs created in 2005 climbed to 1,310, up 5 per cent in comparison to the figure of 1,254 jobs created by foreign investments in 2004
