ISTANBUL, Aug 24 (Reuters) - Here are news, reports and events that may affect Turkish financial markets on Wednesday.
The lira
traded at 18.1280 against the dollar at 0406 GMT, slightly weaker than its closing level of 18.1245 on Tuesday.

GLOBAL MARKETS
Asian stock markets slipped for an eighth straight session on Wednesday, and the U.S. dollar loomed large as fresh hawkish comments from a Federal Reserve official kept investors cautious ahead of this week's Jackson Hole symposium. (news)
ERDOGAN PROGRAMME
President Tayyip Erdogan will attend an awards ceremony for contractor services abroad (1100 GMT).
ENERGY MINISTER
Turkey's Energy Minister Fatih Donmez will be in Qatar to meet Qatar's minister for energy affairs, Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, on Wednesday.
SYRIA
Turkey has no preconditions for dialogue with Syria but any talks should focus on security on their border, Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said, in a further softening of Ankara's stance towards Damascus after a decade of hostility. (news)

Turkey said on Tuesday Palestinian authorities welcome the normalisation of ties between Turkey and Israel and that they want the dialogue to continue. (news)
